Lochwinnoch Extra - new - Articles

Another feature I would like to include is a series of one-off articles concerning interesting goings-on locally.

You know the sort of thing – perhaps about your garden, or an outing you enjoyed, or a round of golf with a humorous touch. Anything which might pique the imagination, or inspire a good reaction, or promote an event or happening.

Have a think, put pen to paper - or use your keyboard - and send it to me. I'm afraid, as you would expect, I shall have the final word over what is published on Lochwinnoch Extra, so keep it clean!

Maybe I will start it off myself with a wee review of the craft fairs at the Arts Festival.

Hello Lochwinnoch Folk

I am spreading the word about my new website for Lochwinnoch.

At the start it will be a free online directory, and gradually will grow to encompass many aspects of life in Lochwinnoch.

I will certainly be adding a What’s On section to help spread the word about local events, both regular and – I was going to say irregular but I maybe I should say - not on a regular timetable.

Just now I am collecting information about local businesses and will “Go Live” when I have gathered enough entries. From then on I will be adding to Lochwinnoch Extra as I receive info, so get writing your piece and send it to me.

And tell your friends.

Okay, time to admit my mistake - forgot to include in the possible info to be included - business name and contact person! Oooops.
Of course you can decide for yourself exactly what info goes on the website.

I will help if wanted, but it’s nice to have a personal touch, with your own words about your own interest, with links to other information such as your own website.

The website will go live in a week or two, as soon as I have collected enough entries to make it worthwhile – don’t want a website with a few lonely entries on it!

Directory plus what extras?

The new Lochwinnoch Extra website will not only have a free directory - for business, hobby, group, organization or whatever, but will also have a section for a 

Lochwinnoch Village Calendar / Diary / What's On too. 

I know this has been mooted often before, and that Lochwinnoch Online does have a calendar - but I often find that many events are not on that, and I hope I can plug the gap and ensure that all events get online coverage, and thus, more people attending. And of course Chatterbox has What's on too, but as there's supposed to be no such thing as over-advertising I think we can all live happily alongside each other.

Well I have been contacted by a couple of businesses already and had over 80 pageviews of this Lochwinnoch Extra Blog, so there is interest out there.

So let's see how many people will join the fun !

On the second day of the year

So, I now have a Plan.
Today I need some folk.

New Beginnings at the Beginning of the Year

So yes, I have decided to start an online directory for Lochwinnoch even though I know there is one included on the Lochwinnoch Online website.
There will be other things on my website too, which I hope will add to, not compete with, the existing website. Perhaps the notoriously underused Village Calendar can be given a chance!
I have made a few decisions now.
The website will be called Lochwinnoch Extra.
Inclusion in the directory will be free, and the info will be written by the people themselves.
Anyone can be included, whether business, hobby, group, organization or whatever.
I will add the info to my new website, and so have control of what goes onto it.
Information can be emailed to me or put on this blog, or else by good old fashioned phone or letter
The website will maybe take a week or two to go live but this blog is online now and I am hoping this will start the ball rolling and encourage participation. It's easy to join in, just write a comment in the box below.
